武汉华侨城工作人员戴先生接受记者采访时表示，2017年8月12日，由他们华侨城主办的“中国东湖青年雕塑家邀请展·2017”在该公园开幕，展期约4个月。在这期间，共有60件入围作品的微观小样，被摆放到这些玻璃罩内展出。这些作品来自世界各地，由不同雕塑家创作，它们中部分作品是从英国、俄罗斯、立陶宛等国家漂洋过海来到武汉的。展会结束后，其中10件优秀作品，被按比例放大后制成实物，永久放在该公园内展出。
戴先生强调，那60件入围作品的微观小样，并没有随着展会结束而被撤展，而是被继续放在玻璃罩内展示。今年3月份时，他们公司工作人员在巡视过程中，发现玻玻罩内部分作品在阳光照射下，已出现褪色或局部断裂现象，“看上去不是很美观”。为此，他们公司就派人将这些作品从玻璃罩内取出，并将它们送到专业机构，请专业人士修复它们。待它们被修复后，仍会被送回原来的罩内安放。
